White Sharks off Florida? Yes!

First posted on Da Sharks blog this is one of those rare shark encounters at sea caught off the coast of Florida last week. While not unknown in the region this video is still very cool to watch.

For those of you who are white shark geeks like us, here's an in depth paper on whites in Florida waters - a good read.

Reminds us of the white shark that was beached in the Bahamas back in June 2008.

What's nice to see in this video is the respect the folks shooting this clip have for the white shark. Kudos:

Is that said with irony? Sound like they they make some comment at the end about trying to jump off the boat and "ride 'em."

Hi John,

We looked into Florida back in 2005 as an option. Unfortunately the critters here are not sticking around for long so the chances of doing anything commercial would be 10% or less.

Stay tuned for Jan 1, I have something new for you.

I'm all ears brother!

And yeah running an op here is pointless, especially as wide spread over the Gulf as they go. A buddy of mine used to commercial fish, he's seen 3 within 90 miles of Tampa Bay area in the Winter months. I'm always hopeful though.
