The shark diving industry blog covering sharks, shark cage diving, shark conservation and things we find "amusing" since 2008 www.sharkdiver.com, www.sharkdivers.com, www.divingwithsharks.com
I really enjoyed seeing Mike Rowe as the host a couple years back. I think a much better choice than Stroud (I do like his own show quite alot, but he's not suited to Shark Week) would have been Adam & Jaime of Mythbusters - Adam is a clown, perfect for the interstitials, and Jaime is a veteran diver, who could conduct real experiments.
Of course, even better hosts would be Dr Sylvia Earle, Jean-Michel Cousteau, Rodney Fox, Howard Hall - but yes, they lack resonance in the TV world.....
You pretty much nailed it there with that analysis. We have a suspicion you'll be seeing those Mythbuster guys playing with the sharks again sometime soon.
Jimmy Hall would have been the next big talent on DISCOVERY. He was perfect for his new career path as "host." Les should stick to Hollywood scripts. Hopefully the network won't make the same mistake this year.
Unfortunately Discovery got it wrong again. They have re-upped Les and Company for another Shark Week show in 2008. He wrapped the shoot a few months ago.

Hopefully they make him look good in post.
