KATU viewer Zak Retherford sent us photos after his unusual day on the water at Depoe Bay. Clearly pictured is a great white shark.
A YouTube video shows the shark being dragged ashore and displayed for onlookers (CAUTION, video is bloody in some sections).
Retherford said he had just finished salmon fishing when another boat came in, dragging this 12-foot-long shark. It had been tangled in a crab pot line and was presumed dead.
However, the shark sprung to life in the parking lot pictured, thrashing around and almost biting someone. It eventually died.

Cool baby dolphin in it's stomach. Hope they did some science with it instead of just takin' the jaws.
I'll never understand the motivation behind dancing around on dead white shark like he's some sort of piece of playground equipment. The guys in the video seemed fairly proud of themselves.

KATU is reporting that the guy who brought the shark into port was cited, though several people posted in the comments that this was not the case. The level of ignorance displayed in some of the comments after the KATU story is fairly mind-numbing.
I think that's more of the demographic of You Tube than outright shark ignorance.
Mind you there's a fair amount of that too floating around.
This is absolutely heartbreaking. That is no way for a shark to die.
They're fisherman - they kill things for fun ... what else do you expect?
