Mako Shark Munch and Crunch

Hat Tip to the venerated Dorsal Fin Blog (yeah, you stick for more than a standard blog year you become "venerated") for this latest video.

It's got a cool Mako, some tragically bent fishermen, and a wife/girlfriend combo who is not into the whole shark thing.

For us lucky guys who have married or are dating girls who are "into" the shark thing, apologies to those of you who have been missing out. Like the poor guys in this video trying to hook the Mako:

Crazy Cool/Amazing Shark Video From Catalina

It's got all the elements, a gill netted seal, a hungry white shark or mako, and a surprise.

If it's September in California it's shark time folks. A free Shark Diver T-shirt to the first person to positively ident this shark as either a mako or very small white.

A similar attack by an actual mako on a seal happened on July 31, 2010 at Catalina.

Mako on Predation - Sweet

Call us old school but we just love a good predation image when it comes to sharks.

Who doesn't?

Diver and underwater photographer Al McGlashin got the surprise of his life yesterday off Port Stephens, Australia when a sizable Mako blasted past him to seize a striped marlin about to be released during a fishing tournament.

Needles to say the animal was not released for reasons that will quickly become self evident.

Al stayed in the water with the shark and shot an entire series - nicely done sir.
